Join us at the Jesup Memorial Library for a discussion with Marisa Monroe on amphibian migrations and an exciting citizen science initiative at Acadia National Park.
Throughout the Northeast, including Maine, the phenomenon of Big Night Migrations of amphibians in spring captivates the community. However, amphibian movements during the rest of the year often go unnoticed by citizen science groups. In an effort to provide Acadia National Park with a comprehensive dataset spanning from March through October, we're calling on citizen scientists to help us collect data in 2024 and beyond.
During this informative talk, Marisa will delve into various aspects of amphibian ecology, including the different species found in Acadia and how their migrations might differ. Drawing upon examples from around the world, Marisa will examine existing data for the park and discuss the research goals for the coming years.
Attendees will have the opportunity to share their observations of amphibian movements in the Acadia area. Whether you're a seasoned naturalist or simply curious about the world around you, this event welcomes all levels of experience.
