A Collaborative Approach to Climate Change Planning for MDI’s Tourism Industry

How can Mount Desert Island’s tourism industry adapt to the impacts of climate change?

Join us in-person and on-line at the Southwest Harbor Public Library on Tuesday, January 10th at 5:30 pm to learn about the work being done to prepare Mount Desert Island's tourism industry on how to adapt to climate change impacts. Researcher Lydia Horne, a lead author of a study recently published in the journal, “Tourism and Hospitality Research”, University of Maine, and her collaborator Alyssa Soucy, and community partner A Climate To Thrive’s Executive Director Johannah Blackman will talk about the study conclusions based on a series of workshops in which students from University of Maine and tourism partners on MDI discussed pressing climate change challenges and possible solutions to improve the tourism destination for residents and visitors.

The event is co-hosted by A Climate to Thrive, Northeast Harbor Library, and Jesup Memorial Library and the Southwest Harbor Public Library. Online viewing is available.
