Story Slam: “What a Turkey” on Fri., Nov. 17

It is almost turkey time and the Jesup Memorial Library is getting into the Thanksgiving spirit for the next Words Unleashed! Story Slam on Friday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. The theme of this month’s slam is “What a Turkey!” Maybe you bought a huge bird to cook one year for the whole family, maybe one of your friends was being a real turkey or maybe that turkey that crossed in front of your car was the biggest turkey you have ever seen. Come share your story at the Jesup. Join emcee Jeff Miller for a fun night; come to share, listen or to cheer on the story tellers.

Those familiar with “The Moth” broadcast on NPR will recognize the format. These are true stories told live.  Stories must be your own and told in the first person. Stories should be no more than five minutes long. At the end of each slam, the theme of the next slam is chosen by the audience.

Jesup hosts Words Unleashed! story slams every other month throughout the year, alternating with Verse Unleashed! poetry slams. For more information, call the Jesup Memorial Library at (207) 288-4245 or email kchagnon@jesuplibrary.org.
