Murder by the Book on Fri., Oct. 26 and Sat., Oct. 27

Join 13 mystery, suspense and thriller writers at the Jesup Memorial Library for Murder by the Book. This great weekend of events kicks off on Friday, Oct. 26, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., with a special reception where you can meet and mingle with the authors. Then on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., there is a full day of talks, book signings and more with a keynote talk with author David Rosenfelt at noon. This year’s featured authors include: David Rosenfelt, Brenda Buchanan, Dorothy Cannell, Richard Cass, Bruce Coffin, Stephanie Gayle, Vaughn Hardacker, James Hayman, Lynne Raimondo, Nicole Seavey, Jane Sloven, Julia Spencer-Fleming and James Ziskin.

Friday night’s event is a ticketed reception. This year, there is a special murder mystery twist. Attendees who purchase their tickets ahead of time can solve a mystery to be entered into a drawing to win a prize basket. Learn who the murderer is that night as members of Acadia Community Theater act out the scene. Also enjoy tasty food and drinks while listening to authors read from their works in progress. Saturday’s event is free and open to the public. Join the authors for a full day of talks, book signings and more. There will be giveaways throughout the day. Stop by for one talk or stay for the whole day. Rosenfelt will be giving the keynote speech at noon. There also will be talks on how authors find their inspiration, how they add different genres to their writing and much more. There also will be a panel for writers next door at the YWCA MDI where writers can learn how to spread the word about their books.

Rosenfelt is the bestselling author of the 18-book Andy Carpenter mystery series featuring dog lover and lawyer He is also the author of Doug Brock series, as well as 6 stand-alone novels and three nonfiction books. Rosenfelt himself is a dog lover and started the Tara Foundation rescued almost 4,000 dogs, many of them Golden Retrievers, and found them loving homes.

If you want to see Rosenfelt’s talk and not miss lunch, there is a special promotion going on during the day on Saturday. Attendees who contact Peekytoe Provision or Epi’s by noon on Friday and order lunch can have their lunches delivered during the talk. Just specify that you are ordering for Murder by the Book.
