Lois Maltais spent three weeks exploring the wild landscape of Mongolia. She will share stories of her adventures as well as pictures from her time in the country at a slideshow and talk at the Jesup Memorial Library on Friday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m.
Maltais started her trip in the Altai Mountains in the province of Bayan-Ulgii in the western part of the country before traveling to Lake Hovsgol National Park which borders the forests of Siberia in the north. She then went through the steppe in the central part of the country to the south where she ended her trip in the Gobi Desert. During her stay she spent time with nomadic Uuld and Kazakh families, saw how a Golden Eagle is trained, hiked and horse trekked, kayaked in a crystal-clear alpine lake and explored many of the country’s National Parks.
