Suffrage Talk with the League of Women Voters at the Southwest Harbor Public Library

June 11 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Two voting rights activists, Ann Luther and Sheila Kirby, will be at the Library for an event commemorating the 19th Amendment. 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, when women won the right to vote. This presentation not only celebrates that historic victory and the women who led the movement, but it also provides a sober reflection on the compromises that split the movement and left many voters behind–choices that continue to echo 100 years later. Ann and Sheila will end with a brief overview of the work that remains to be done. For more information, please call the Library at 244-7065.
