Storyteller Jude Lamb as Chansonetta Stanley Emmons
July 20 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Bringing one of Maine’s favorite daughters to life, Jude Lamb will take you back to 1925 as she portrays Chansonetta Stanley Emmons.
Growing up in rural Kingfield, Maine, Chansonetta might have followed her prescribed path as a school teacher but instead chose to study painting. While on her way to Boston to begin her art studies, she worked for her brother Frank in his Lewiston studio. It was there that she became intrigued with the art of photography.
Come and hear a bit about Netta’s life and her fascinating family. (Yes, including those famous Stanley twins who invented the Stanley Steamer!) See a slideshow of some of her hand-colored photographs, and begin to know how her camera captured a way of life that was disappearing as the industrial age replaced farm life.
Jude Lamb is a Storyteller, becoming known for her portrayal of historic Maine women. She is an artist and writer, and takes thousands of (digital) photographs each year. She has a degree in Human Ecology from the College of the Atlantic, and lives in Lamoine with her husband, Rob Collins. There is more information at
