Author Talk and Book Signing: Christopher Lockwood “Why the Cane?”

November 13 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

In a split second, a man’s life, and that of his family was turned upside down. This book begins in a recovery room at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1989 and takes the reader through a medical odyssey, along with intimate insights into the painful upheaval experienced by the family. The author shares the incredibly wise counsel offered by a rehab doctor and the support that has enabled him to regain a level of activity he thought would not have been possible during the thirty years since “the accident.” It’s an inspiring story with simple, practical advice.

Christopher Lockwood’s writing is his artistic outlet. For years his writing was primarily in conjunction with his professional career as Executive Director of the Maine Municipal Association (1979 – 2015). In 2013, he published The Tennis Ball Trees, a whimsical children’s book about his chocolate Labrador Retriever’s love of tennis balls. Upon his retirement in 2015, Lockwood decided to pursue his writing on a part-time basis. His next book, Why the Cane? is scheduled to be released in April 2019. The book relates his personal story of regaining a level of activity he thought would not be possible after a devastating accident.
