Youth Services

In addition to a special selection of books for kids of all ages, we offer story times, crafts, a summer reading program, author visits and a dynamic slate of programs, too. Check our Calendar, or call us at 207-288-4245 to find out what’s coming up next.

Join us at Jesup Story Times!

From October through early June we have story times every week.

On Wednesdays at 10 a.m. we offer books, songs and activities chosen especially for infants and their parents or caregivers. On Thursdays at 10 a.m. we offer stories and activities for toddlers and their parents or caregivers.

Saturday and Pajama Story Times – Watch our CALENDAR or ask at the front desk about these special events for young children. Sometimes we do a craft too.

Miss Amanda shares a fun tale during a regular Wednesday story time at the Jesup.
More Great Programs!

Summer Reading Program
Every summer the Jesup offers six weeks of reading and fun activities for kids organized around a theme.

Author Visits
We’re thrilled to bring authors and illustrators of children’s books to talk at the library and offer special events for kids.

Student Volunteer Program
Students in Grade 6 & Up can come assist with day-to-day operations of the library and special projects. Ask Miss Mae for more details.

Books for Babies
Book bags for newborns are given to MDI Hospital for parents when children are born. Each bag includes information about reading to your baby, a bookmark, a board book and information about the library.

Meet Miss Mae

miss-mae

Mae Corrion is the Jesup’s youth services librarian and is responsible for ordering all the books for kids, from picture books to young adult novels. Want a recommendation for a good book? Ask Mae – she reads every single one that comes into the children’s room. She also plans fun events at the Jesup: Sometimes it’s an author coming to the library; sometimes a craft; a story time; the summer reading program; a party; or even a science project. Ask her what is up next!

Have a question for Miss Mae? You can reach her at mcorrion@jesuplibrary.org or (207) 288-4245
