Trisha is the Associate Director at Thorndike Library at College of the Atlantic where she began working in 1990. She has a BA in Specialized Studies is from UMO with a focus on Library Science (she designed my own course of study) and an MLS from Clarion University in Pennsylvania.
She is a long-term Bar Harbor girl. As she notes, “Both my mother’s and father’s families resided in Bar Harbor, so the only thing stopping me from being born here was my parent’s stint in the Navy.” She also has a long-term connection to the Jesup. “Growing up the Jesup Library was my haven. I read all the kids books by the time I was ten, and moved onto the adult section where non-fiction was my favorite haunt. My mother started working at Jesup when I was twelve. At 14 I too started working at Jesup during the summer, which I continued until I was in my late teens/early twenties. I knew I wanted to be a librarian from age 16 on. I helped out in the winter when needed, and volunteered at the annual book sale, for years, until my kids and job demands got in the way.”
Now her daughter spends many an afternoon after school at the Jesup. And she notes that, “The Jesup is a safe and welcoming haven yet again. I have watched the Jesup grow over the years and am so pleased with how central it has become to our hometown.”
