Calling all lovers of mystery, thriller and suspense. Join the Jesup Memorial Library for an event about all things mystery! First, on Friday, Oct. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. there will be a special ticketed reception where you can meet mystery authors and hear about their stories. Then on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be talks, discussions and book signings with mystery authors with a special keynote talk with best-selling, Maine author Linda Greenlaw at noon.

Share your verse or the work of a poet that inspires you at the next Verse Unleashed! Poetry Slam on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Jesup Memorial Library. This poetry slam is about sharing all kinds and types of poetry in a fun, friendly environment. Whether it is free verse, sonnet, haiku or limerick, we want to hear it. Bring your friends or family and share your poetry in a supportive atmosphere.

Learn more about the women and their impact on cooking in Maine with Sandy Oliver on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Jesup Memorial Library. A lobsterman’s favorite orange bucket travels the coast of Maine in author Charlotte Crowder’s “A Fine Orange Bucket.” Join Crowder at the Jesup Memorial Library on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. for a preschool special story time.
“A Fine Orange Bucket” follows the bucket as it travels off the coast of Downeast Maine. Along the way, children learn about sailing, sea creatures and lobstering. Join Dr. Joshua Schwartz for the third Annual Paul Hammond Memorial Lecture on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Jesup Memorial Library. The Hammond Memorial Lecture, in honor of the late Paul Hammond, brings a noted speaker for a talk that explores philosophy for a lay audience. Hammond, who grew up on MDI and was professor of philosophy, was passionate about discussing ideas and current events, as well as promoting well-reasoned and logical arguments and debate.
