Join author Penn Rhodeen to learn the story of Bruce Morrison, a little known American politician who played a critical role in ending centuries of conflict in Ireland. Rhodeen, the author of “Peacerunner: The True Story of How an Ex-Congressman Helped End the Centuries of War in Ireland” will be at the Jesup Memorial Library on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. for an author talk and book signing.
Rhodeen takes us on the journey of Morrison, who worked with Irish Americans to help elect Bill Clinton as the best hope for an end to the centuries of warfare. He then devised the political strategy that helped Clinton make that policy a reality. Despite having no official position, Morrison traveled tirelessly to meet with anyone who could help end the fighting. Morrison’s story is one of unlikely optimism in the face of seemingly hopeless conflict. It is also a timely and strong answer to those who claim the political process cannot accomplish anything of value.
