Join a community discussion about aging on Mount Desert Island at the Jesup Memorial Library on Saturday, January 6 at 1:30 p.m. as part of Age by Design. Patricia Oh from AARP Maine will join members of the Bar Harbor Task Force on Aging to share information about Bar Harbor’s designation as an age-friendly community. Bar Harbor is one of 44 communities in the state of Maine to be an age-friendly community. During the second half of the program, they will answer questions and facilitate a conversation about healthy aging and how to make our communities age-friendly.
Age by Design is a series of programs, facilitated by Island Connections, the Jesup Memorial Library, YWCA Mount Desert Island and the Mount Desert Island YMCA, geared towards people 50 years and older. The series is designed to spark a conversation about creating a community you want to age into. Individual programs will focus on physical health, mental and spiritual health, finances, caregiving and lifelong learning. There also will be panel discussions, classes and workshops.
Programs will be on the first and third Saturdays of each month through April at 1:30 p.m. in 2018 at different venues. Depending on response to the Age by Design series, additional programs might be added. For more information contact Doreen Willett at Island Connections at 207-288-4457 or Melinda Rice at the Jesup Memorial Library at 207-288-4245.
